About The Founder
Matt Burns started Perftech to meet the market need for a new one-stop shop of perforated metal products for the commercial construction, industrial, engineering, and mining and quarrying industries, and the architects who specify these solutions.
Perftech is an exciting new full-range supplier in this market and combines Matt’s fresh thinking, flexibility, service excellence, responsiveness, and local supply efficiencies. This is demonstrated by Perftech being the only New Zealand perforated metal solutions supply only company that can manufacture expanded mesh, perforated sheets, and woven wire, locally, ensuring supply.
With over 15 years of experience in national roles in the architectural metals industry, Matt brings his understanding of the market and its customers, knowledge of the supply chain, and his national, and international networks to enhance his ability to deliver to both the specifier and end-user needs.
The Burns family history is steeped in successful business with a strong service ethic. Matt’s grandfather, was the first licensed real estate agent on Waiheke Island and his father, started, The Home Team appliance store which became one of the largest in Australasia, now known as 100% Electrical.
Wes Burns at the opening of his appliance store in 1978, The Home Team, went on to become part of the 100% Electrical Group and is still around today despite the fierce competition.
Matt’s father (Wes) stands in front of Waiheke's first-ever licensed land agency established by J. B. Burns in 1947. Today the island is home to many architecturally inspired holiday homes that have won awards.
